During our lastest round through Universal Orlando Resort, we stopped by to check on the progress of the CityWalk Universal Studios Store expansion. More wooden framing is now taking shape, providing us with a better idea of what the new building will look like when it opens.
New Wooden Framing at Universal Studios Store
Approaching the store from the ground, we could see construction crew members still working on the roof overhang that was just added during our last update report.
From a higher angle, we can see the top of the roof overhang is being covered and waterproofed. Two crew members have a stepladder placed to the right as they work on that section.
Two red scissor lifts are waiting to be used on the left side. Additional stepladders were originally standing in this area, so the lifts are likely being used to provide better roof access for the crew.
Looking closer to the ground, the large stacks of plywood are now smaller. The plywood is now being installed to shape the walls and edges of the building before it is covered and painted.
Several walls and columns for the entryway are now wrapped in plywood. During our last update, the yellow sheathing was still mostly visible. Now, the yellow has been almost completely covered here.
Near the doorway, the various warning signs are still standing. The pink insulation has still not been closed on the left.
The newly expanded footprint of the Universal Studios Store will include a new Harry Potter area featuring a selection of Butterbeer and an area for Super Nintendo World with its own dedicated entrance. Additional merchandise for Epic Universe, likely similar to some of the merchandise currently sold in the Epic Universe Preview Center, will also be included.
