RUMOR: Full Remainder of DinoLand U.S.A. Will Close in One Year

The rest of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will likely close permanently in one year.

DinoLand U.S.A. Closures

A person strolls in front of a colorful, round amusement park ride, reminiscent of Dinoland's whimsical charm. Wooden benches and neatly trimmed hedges frame the scene beneath a cloudy sky.

Half of DinoLand closed on January 12, 2025. This included Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, TriceraTop Spin, and Fossil Fun Games. Construction walls and planters now divide the land, leaving DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, and Restaurantosaurus open.

Sources state that these remnants of the land will close simultaneously in one year — January 2026. Disney had previously announced DinoLand would close in phases, allowing guests plenty of time to experience DINOSAUR. They later indicated DINOSAUR would remain open through 2025.

The only part of DinoLand not closing is “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!”

Tropical Americas Land

A display featuring a detailed model of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is situated in front of a large screen showing an aerial view of the theme park, reminiscent of the vibrant spirit found in Pueblo Esperanza.

The DinoLand space will become an 11-acre Tropical Americas land. Much of the land will be shaped into a fictional town called Pueblo Esperanza, where guests can enjoy a carousel of hand-carved Disney animal characters. A display at the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event gave a first look at a carousel figure of Kevin from “Up.”

Pueblo Esperanza will also have one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort. This hacienda will fill the Restaurantosaurus footprint.

A person with a torch approaches an ancient, glowing artifact inside a cave. Nearby, people in a vehicle point flashlights towards the artifact. The scene is filled with mystery and ancient symbols, reminiscent of an Indiana Jones adventure through the hidden wonders of the animal kingdom.

DINOSAUR will be reimagined into an Indiana Jones attraction. DINOSAUR has almost the exact same ride track and system as Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, but the Tropical Americas attraction will feature a new Indiana Jones story.

A brand new attraction taking over the Dino-Rama footprint will be themed to “Encanto.” Guests will be carried through the Madrigal family’s Casita as the family celebrates Antonio’s birthday. It kicks off on the day Antonio receives his gift of talking to animals, but Disney said the ride will “go beyond” the movie.

Both the Indiana Jones and “Encanto” attractions are scheduled to open in 2027.
