Disney has shared a new update regarding the closing timeline for DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is set to close to make way for a new Indiana Jones-themed attraction.

According to a post shared by the Disney Parks Blog, DINOSAUR will be open for all of 2025 before it goes extinct to make way for the previously announced Tropical Americas land. An exact closing date for the attraction has not been shared, however.

DinoLand at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close in phases, with the first phase starting on January 12, 2025 with the closure of TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.

The Tropical Americas land, named Pueblo Esperanza, was first announced at Destination D23 in 2023, and will also include an “Encanto” attraction and a giant wood-carved carousel.

The Indiana Jones attraction taking over the DINOSAUR footprint will feature an all-new story that takes place in an ancient Mayan temple. Here, Indy has heard tales of a mythical creature that lives within, and he’s on a mission to get to the bottom of whatever awaits him there.

Both DINOSAUR and Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye at Disneyland Park have almost identical ride tracks, though the latter is set in India, not the Tropical Americas.

Disney has previously stated that construction would begin in fall 2024, with permits filed that reveal demolition plans, but the South Florida Water Management District has requested additional information regarding those plans, which could affect Disney’s construction timeline. Disney filed their first notice of commencement for the project earlier this year.

Both the Indiana Jones and “Encanto” attractions will open in 2027.
