Disney has announced the first closing date for parts of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which will become the Tropical Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza.
DinoLand Closing Date
Though Disney stated construction would begin this fall, the first phase of DinoLand closures is scheduled for January 12, 2025. This will be the final day of operation for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.
DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will all stay open. As previously announced, DinoLand will close in phases, giving fans plenty of time to experience DINOSAUR before it permanently closes.
In May, Disney filed their first notice of commencement for construction in DinoLand. They filed more permits in July. This all comes years after one of DinoLand’s main attractions, Primeval Whirl, permanently closed and was demolished.

Fossil Fun Games are a series of carnival games near TriceraTop Spin and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures is a themed gift shop.
Pueblo Esperanza
Pueblo Esperanza will be a lush, sprawling village with a fountain in the center. A model of the land debuted at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. New attractions will include a giant wood-carved carousel and an “Encanto” ride. DINOSAUR will become an Indiana Jones ride. The “Encanto” and Indiana Jones rides are scheduled to open in 2027.
Work may have already begun on preparing DINOSAUR for its reimagining, as a dinosaur animatronic was recently removed from the attraction. DINOSAUR and Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland have almost identical ride tracks, but the Animal Kingdom ride will feature a new story.
DinoLand U.S.A. opened with Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22, 1998. It also includes the Theater in the Wild, which currently features “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond!” The show is not expected to be affected by the reimagining.
