Crews have started removing theming from Studio Sweets, the candy shop on the corner of the Universal Studios Store in Universal Studios Florida, supporting the rumor that On Location will become a new sweets shop.
Studio Sweets Construction
Studio Sweets closed in February, not long after On Location also closed. Since then, there have been temporary fences around the doors to the candy store and curtains around the interior. Now the striped awnings are gone from the walls above both doorways.
Crews have also removed the Studio Sweets sign from the corner of the building. Purple and green elements still remain above the doors, though the Universal Studios Store plaques around the doors were already present prior to the closure. It’s possible that, if a new sweets shop opens across the street, this corner will just be incorporated into the regular merchandise store.
On Location Construction
Meanwhile, On Location across the street has been repainted a new light gray color. The gift shop previously sold hats, sunglasses, and sun care products. It was gutted soon after its closure, and parts of the exterior were demolished. In our last construction update, we noted pipe-like decorations added to the facade.
There was also white primer on the building during our last update, which is now covered by gray paint. The walls of On Location were previously a teal green color.
Around the side and back of the building, some of the teal color still appears in sections where painting isn’t complete.

It looks like these areas, including around a set of speakers, have been painted with a layer of primer to receive the matching gray color.
Above another set of speakers and at the edge of the building, there’s still some bright teal visible. The second level in the center of the building also remains teal for now.
Studio Sweets and On Location are both found near the entrance of Universal Studios Florida.
