Disney Files 6 New Construction Permits for Same Address Near Magic Kingdom, Possibly for Upcoming Lands

According to some public records, six new construction permits have been filed for the same area located behind Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World.

The six new construction permits were all filed on the same day and list the same address of “1700 Floridian Way, Bay Lake, FL.” This address is not a part of Magic Kingdom, but appears on maps as the space just behind the Fantasyland and Frontierland sections of the park.

The permits all list different activities taking place at the same address. The permits include:

Like the different construction activities, all of the permits list a different contractors. The companies include Siemens Industry, Inc., McGrath RentCorp, Specialty Plumbing LLC, Bumgarner Electric, Awesome Aire Solutions Inc., and International Fire Protection Inc.

While these permits do not provide extended details, they do provide an idea of what sort of work is being prepared. Since there is specifically permits for installing trailers and fire systems, Disney is likely prepping for a new backstage work area. It is common during the early stages of a project that Disney will create an on-site base for Cast Members that includes a temporary building. We saw this type of structure appear in the back of DinoLand U.S.A. following the closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama.

While not confirmed, it is possible this upcoming trailer area is related to the construction of either the new “Cars” land coming to Magic Kingdom or the new Villains-inspired land, though the latter is much further away on the schedule than the “Cars” expansion. This permit area would not become an actual part of the park, but would likely remain a backstage base of operations as work begins.

Interestingly, however, this new round of permits is nearly identical to another group of six forms filed by Disney in April. Those permits had identical projects and contractors listed, but included an address of 5055 Caribbean Way. This address is much closer to the actual edge of Frontierland, making it a likely spot for a backstage base regarding the “Cars” land. The Floridian Way address is further back away from the park and closer to the road. It is possible the land is so big that Disney has decided to create two trailer zones, with one closer to the park and one near the edge, or these newest permits are for something else entirely.

In Villains Land, a dark, fantastical landscape unfolds with jagged mountains, a glowing mythical creature, and a roller coaster weaving through the ominous terrain. A large crow looms in the foreground under a purple sky as the backstory is revealed.

Disney released several pieces of new information regarding the “Cars” expansion of Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. Imagineers finally explained more details of how the new expansion will fit into the existing theme of Frontierland without ruining the aesthetic, which includes adding new water features and managing the sound pollution. As a part of these updates, Disney revealed the first look at an original character for the land and shared a “fun map” with some of the upcoming land’s features.

With construction anticipated to begin later this year, the final day of operations for the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, is July 6, 2025.

Far fewer details have been revealed regarding the announced Villains land coming to Magic Kingdom, though a permit for the 14 acre project had an early start date of March 2025. Some of the villains set to be featured in the land include Queen of Hearts, Jafar, the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Yzma, Cruella, Captain Hook, Maleficent (and her dragon form), Gaston, Mother Gothel, Ursula, Hades, and more.
