Howdy! Today was a beautifully hot day in the Magic Kingdom and later in Hollywood Studios. I found new merchandise and updates, including the removal of the Tom Loves Becky fence on Tom Sawyer Island, devastating. I then ran to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to catch the last showing of the BDX Droids before their lunch break.
Monorail Mornings
Good morning from the Transportation and Ticketing Center, TTC, for you experts. I noticed, walking in, that one of the flags was torn, which is sad. This happens this time of year, though, with all the tropical weather in the afternoons.
I took the monorail into the Magic Kingdom this morning because the ferryboat was a bit crowded.
Good Morning from the Magic Kingdom
Good morning from a bustling Magic Kingdom. I do truly wonder how many pictures are taken each day of this iconic castle. Let me know if you have any guesses in the comments below. I can’t even imagine how many pictures and videos are taken. I couldn’t tell you how many pictures just like this that I have taken.
Small Progress at the Main Street Train Station
I noticed a few of the wooden decorative pieces have returned to the train station. They aren’t very different, just cleaned up. I love it when Disney takes care of what is instead of replacing it altogether, especially on Main Street.
Beauty and the Beast Print “The Gift” – $399.00
In Box Office Gifts, I found a new featured piece by artist Ann Shen. This limited edition print is available for $399.00. I love how warm this picture feels. To be fair, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was one of my favorite movies growing up.
Confectionery Sells Out of Pina Colada!
The Confectionery has sold out of its frozen pina colada mix. Instead, it has been replaced with Fanta Wild Cherry. How is that a comparable replacement? I’m not upset. There was no rum in the mix anyway, but it did give me a small glimpse of hope.
How would you feel about alcohol being more available in the Magic Kingdom? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I think selling beer and cider would be fine at the carts, just like in the other parks. I think liquor may create more problems than it’s worth in a children’s theme park.
New Addition to an Old Collection
I thought it was strange to find a new addition to an old collection in Uptown Jewelers. This accordion-style wallet featuring our favorite gal, Minnie Mouse, is available for $40.00.
More New Keychains in Crystal Arts
In Crystal Arts, I found two more new glass keychains. There was a Stitch keychain and a Beauty and the Beast Rose keychain available for $25.00 each.
Glow in the Dark and Mood Jewelry in the Emporium
In the Emporium, I found a set of earrings and a necklace that glows in the dark. I love this effect for the Evil Queen jewelry. The earring set is available for $17.99, and the necklace for $19.99.
I was surprised to see mood-changing jewelry as well. The necklace and bracelet come as a best friend set. This way, you can keep one and share the other with your BFF. The necklace set is available for $24.99, and the bracelets for $19.99.
Sonny Eclipse Sound Check
This is here purely for your enjoyment. I have nothing to contribute, but I feel like everyone deserves a little Sonny Eclipse in their life. It’s always good to see this little guy performing.
Star Traders Has the Coveted Backpack
This collection has been selling out so quickly at Disney Springs that I haven’t even been able to hold the black backpack yet, but here it is! Star Traders has the entire new collection of ear headband bags available. This backpack, if it’s still available, costs $49.99.
Big Top Souvenirs S’mores Additions
I noticed that in Big Top Souvenirs at the treat counter that they have added the Peanut Butter and Jelly S’more and the Banana S’more. These treats aren’t new despite their cards; rather, they have migrated from Zuri Sweets Shop in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
King Triton Statue Update
King Triton’s statue in Fantasyland remains in a sorta permanent yuck. I think it is finally time to let this battle go and just appreciate that the statue is here. Until there is something significant, this case is closed.
Gaston’s Fountain is Rusting?
The fountain outside Gaston’s Tavern has been turned off, or at least wasn’t running when I walked by today. I noticed a few weeks ago that there was a pretty substantial crack on the Stein LeFou is balancing on his foot. I noticed today that there is also a crack in the bottom of his shoe. I wonder why this is deteriorating like this. Let me know if you have any theories in the comments below.
Be Our Guest Menu Madallions Return Refurbished!
The medallions have returned, refurbished on the Be Our Guest outdoor menu, and they look great. Another story came to a close in a very nice way. Yet again, Disney has refurbished what was rather than replacing it with a cheaper alternative.
The Black Cauldron 40th Anniversary Ornament – $
Heck, there’s only 162 days left till Christmas. This little countdown is fun, but also a bit anxiety-inducing, no?
In the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, there is a new ornament celebrating the 40th Anniversary of The Black Cauldron. I haven’t seen this movie since I was little, but it is fun to see it getting some new merchandise for the anniversary. The ornament is available for $29.99.
Tom Loves Becky Fence Removed
The famous Tom Loves Becky fence has been removed from Tom Sawyer Island. It looks so purposeful, though, that I would assume that it has been preserved for Disney history. It is weird to see the Haunted Mansion queue all walled up as well. It all feels very strange considering it’s such a huge change coming to the park I come to so often.
Howdy from Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Y’all. There is breaking news. Disney gave no warning and chose absolute violence. There I was taking in the changes of Tom Sawyer Island when beep boop my phone pings GO TO STUDIOS THE PUPPY ROBOTS ARE IN STUDIOS. Technically, the BDX Droids, but they are precious and seem like robot puppies to me.
BDX Droids – SO FLIP FLOPPING COOL
After a minor panic attack and a very, very hot brisk “Disney Run”, because you can’t technically run in the parks, but you can briskly walk, here I am. From the back of Magic Kingdom to the back of Batuu in less than 45 minutes is pretty good, huh?
LOOK AT THEM! I uploaded a YouTube video, and you can get more details on when and where to catch these guys on our website. If you do, fair warning, there was a little mist halfway through their appearance, and they were bagged in trash bags to protect them from the drizzle.
It’s going to be a long few weeks for these droids in the Florida tropical storms. I say this so you can plan to see them on a day that looks clear or go early in the day before the afternoon storms.
More Fun Finds
My inner child was quite content after seeing the tiny droids. On my way out of Hollywood Studios, I found a few new jewelry pieces and, what I can already assume will be, a hot ticket item: a Pumpkin Spice sweater. The sweater is available in Keystone for $49.99. All the jewelry is also available in Keystone for $26.99 each.
I hope you enjoyed our morning in Magic Kingdom and our brief afternoon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I think it goes without saying that my favorite part of the day was finally getting to see the BDX Droids in person, even if it was brief.
Let me know in the comments below if you had any specific moments from today you enjoyed the most.
