Most Construction Walls & Scrim Removed From Main Street Train Station at Magic Kingdom

The refurbishment of the Main Street, U.S.A. train station at Magic Kingdom is finally nearing an end. Construction began in early January but the station has remained open and the Walt Disney World Railroad has continued to operate.

The stairs on the right side of the station are still blocked by rolling planters on the ground and a set of scrim and walls on the platform. This side of the station was previously covered by scrim as the walls were painted.

The paint is clearly fresh on this side, although it looks like it might need another coat. Maintenance has mostly focused on paint and flooring replacement.

There used to be scrim over the second floor railings. Decorative elements of the facade were temporarily replaced with plywood pieces while they were fixed up, but those have all been returned.

The left side of the train station was fixed up earlier during the refurbishment project. Everything is looking clean and crisp. These stairs and the central stairs are open for access to the platform.

Upstairs, the remaining construction walls have a sign pointing to the train platform.

The balcony area has fully reopened. It was blocked off during most of the construction project. The floor tiles were replaced.

Guests can once again enjoy a view of Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. The balcony is frequently closed during the nighttime spectacular for private, VIP viewing.

The Frontierland train station is currently closed for construction of the park’s “Cars” expansion and Disney Villains land. The Walt Disney World Railroad is operating in “shuttle mode” back and forth between the Main Street and Storybook Circus stations.
