Walt Disney Imagineering filed a new permit for the installation of set elements at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The Disney’s Hollywood Studios ride is being re-themed to the Muppets.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Permit
The Notice of Commencement contracts frequent Disney collaborator Mecca Productions to “Install set elements” at 850 Sunset Blvd, the address of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. The permit expires in one year.
Disney also recently contracted Mecca Productions to install sets for the retheming of DINOSAUR into an Indiana Jones attraction.
We learned earlier this month that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close in the spring and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in the summer of 2026. The ride’s pre-show has already been boarded up, so construction could begin while the ride remains open.

The Muppets version of the ride will star Electric Mayhem, Scooter, Miss Piggy, and Kermit. Penguins will appear as audio engineers. Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, has purchased G-Force Records.
Similar to the Aerosmith version, guests on a VIP tour meet the gang, then race across town with the help of Muppet Labs to make the Electric Mayhem concert. The scenery and landmarks will feature a Muppet twist, and guests will hear the Electric Mayhem playing iconic hits.
The re-theme follows the permanent closure of MuppetVision 3D to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land.
