Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for new sets at DINOSAUR, which will soon be transformed into an Indiana Jones attraction.
DINOSAUR Construction Permit
Notice of Commencement #20250455581 is for 501 Restaurantosaurus Road, the address of DINOSAUR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It contracts Mecca Productions, Inc. to “Install set elements.” The firm previously worked on Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land.
DINOSAUR will not close until 2026, but Disney is preparing to quickly turn it into an Indiana Jones ride. Though this permit was filed on August 6, it expires in one year. The attraction’s track and layout are not expected to change — it is already nearly identical to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea — so the reimagining will mostly be focused on sets, props, and audio.
Disney already filed a “General construction” permit for DINOSAUR in March of this year. They have filed several construction permits for the rest of DinoLand U.S.A. as it is transformed into a Tropical Americas land.
Tropical Americas
In addition to the Indiana Jones attraction, Tropical Americas will include the first-ever Encanto ride, a carousel of Disney animals, and a new playground. Part of the land will be the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza.
Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, including TriceraTop Spin and the Dinosaur Treasures gift shop, closed late last year. The Boneyard is closing in a few weeks.
Though the new Indiana Jones ride will be similar to the Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea ride, it will have a new story set in a Mayan temple. Indy goes inside to get to the bottom of a legend about a mythical creature.
Tropical Americas is scheduled to open in 2027. Check out our most recent construction update.
