A Freeze Watch is in effect for the Orlando area from the evening of January 15 into January 16, which marks the start of EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts.
Freeze Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch from late Thursday, January 15, through the morning of January 16. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27° are possible. The impact of the frosty weather includes the killing of crops, as well as other sensitive vegetation, which could be affected. Lastly, unprotected outdoor plumbing could be damaged.
The NWS advises protecting tender plants from the cold, while wrapping, draining, or allowing a slow drip to prevent water pipes from freezing.

The cold weather has impacted Typhoon Lagoon severely, as it remains closed through at least Friday, January 16, 2026. Hours are listed for Saturday, January 17, but as we already reported, it’s going to be a cold weekend as well. The closure may be extended further.
See our first look at the 2026 map for Festival of the Arts here, and our first look at some annual passholder merchandise here. We also found out about the German band Die Couchies returning for this year’s festival. A concept art exhibit has been unveiled between Club Cool and the Creations Shop, and the Lorcana quest distribution point has become visible as well. It’s looking to be a cold weekend for the 2026 opening, so make sure you are well prepared with our full artist guide as well as a full food guide before the event starts.
Be sure to check back on the first Festival day on January 16, as our reporters will brave the cold and will have reviews of every new offering for the 2026 edition of Festival of the Arts.
