Sanding and Construction Continue at Rise of the Resistance

Construction at Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park

On our visit to the Disneyland Resort today February 3, we spotted two cast members working on the gates at the exit of Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The exit of the ride is to the right of Resistance Supply.

The cast members informed us that they were sanding the first layer off and replacing it with a "new theme."

They were sanding the first layer off the structures and replacing them with a “new theme.” The ride has been closed since January 20, 2026, and there is still no reopening date on the calendar on Disneyland’s website.

We are unsure if thematic changes are occurring only on the exterior of the ride, or if there may be changes inside as well.

The construction walls surrounding the ride and the scrim covering a Resistance turret near the entrance remain unchanged.

For reference, this is what the gates at the ride's exit used to look like. The gates were covered in a metallic gray paint.

These construction changes are due to the timeline update to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where half the land will be set during the original trilogy and the other half still set during the sequel trilogy. These changes will officially go into effect on April 29, 2026, but guests might see some updates before then. The timeline shift has not been announced for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, only at the Disneyland Resort.
