The revival special of The Muppet Show is now available on Disney+ as of today, February 4. The Muppet Show is back in the original Muppet Theater with special guest star Sabrina Carpenter.

The special was announced in September. Though it’s only a single special, it could serve as a backdoor pilot for a full revival of The Muppet Show. Its 2026 premiere coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original series created by Jim Henson, which ran from 1976 to 1981.
The new special follows “Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the gang as they return to the Muppet Theatre to produce a variety show.
Veteran Muppet performers returning include Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel.
The Muppet Show is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as executive producer. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee are executive producers for Point Grey Pictures. David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter and Michael Steinbach are executive producers for The Muppets Studio. And Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson are also listed as executive producers.
