Disney’s All-Star Music Resort’s Intermission Food Court has revamped its classic Monster Slices of pizza on the menu and renamed them Super Slices. (Incredibles tie-in? No, don’t worry.) Now, you may be thinking a simple renaming wouldn’t make these new, but after talking to several Cast Members, we discovered what makes this pizza different than the previous offerings… and it’s definitely a cut above the rest.
All the Cast Members were quick to inform us that the pizza was new and tasted much better. We learned that these new pizzas are made fresh daily as opposed to the old, frozen ones, and that they’re made with fresh dough and a blend of four cheeses. That’s good, right?
The pizza doesn’t look too appealing, but we visited during that awkward time between lunch and dinner, so it’s probably not the freshest. But I’m more concerned with the taste than the looks.
It’s nice being able to order a single slice rather than an entire pizza. The Super Slice comes in cheese or pepperoni, and is served with a side salad or breadstick. A Super Slice of cheese is $10.79 and the pepperoni is $11.29.
The name is fitting, seeing as this slice really is monstrous. For the price, it’s a huge piece of pizza. When cut in half, you can see the air bubbles in the dough. There’s a lot of sauce on the pizza, but that’s probably because it’s the only thing with any flavor. We’re seeing these also suffer from Disney flatbread syndrome, where the toppings/cheese fail to make it all the way to the edges.
Unfortunately, this pizza is mediocre at best, It tastes like every other overpriced hotel pizza I’ve had before. The quality of the crust is noticeably better, but it just doesn’t have enough flavor. Even the pepperoni was tasteless and forgettable. Picky eaters might really enjoy this pizza because it’s so bland and simple. The breadstick was delicious, though, and the best part of the meal (and that’s mainly because it had Italian seasoning baked in.)
As much as I wanted to be impressed by this pizza, it was still pretty average. It’s a big portion, but a little overpriced. I would definitely prefer a trip to Pizza Ponte for a slice over the Intermission Food Court. But if you’re exhausted from a long day at the park, this pizza will do the trick.
Besides Disney Springs, why is Via Napoli the only good pizza in Disney? Makes me sad.
unless something has changed the meatlovers @ French quarter is superb .
