With Cast Member previews for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially starting on August 1st (and running through August 16th), Disney’s Hollywood Studios is gearing up for the influx of travelers to Black Spire Outpost.
The construction walls we saw go up last week have now been replaced by a series of planters and umbrellas, blocking the view of guests into the land.
Curious guests are turned away for now, but it seems select Cast Members have extra early access.
It appears check-in for previews of the land, at least for now, will take place past the hedges, with various tables and umbrellas set up and Cast Members stationed at each, with stacks of credentials at the ready. Over at Disneyland, Passholders would check in for their preview slots at Star Wars Launch Bay, but no such logistics have been released for Disney’s Hollywood Studios yet.
With construction walls down, we can get a better look of the entrance tunnel’s interior and design.
A side look in gives us a view of the stratified rock that lines the entrance tunnel. (Various signage reminding preview guests of social media embargo rules are also stationed at the entrance.)
Elongated lanterns flank both sides of the entrance.
Over in Disneyland, these carved rock entrances are what transition you from one storyline to the next, and they do a pretty good job of doing it by way of unique light fixtures, and a special music score that gets piped in, with the rock walls acting as an acoustic amplifier.

Till the spire! Only a few more rising moons till we can explore Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Lower your expectations for this place.
Dramatically.
I’m smug, entitled and rich. Do I qualify for a season pass?
You’re smug and entitled, but definitely not rich
What did the social media rules say? I’m going to a cast member preview and going to be hella mad if I cant take photos!
