REVIEW: We’re Going Bananas For the New Bananas Foster Shake from D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs

D-Luxe Burger, the Disney Springs hot spot for delicious burgers, fries, and shakes, is at it again. It was only one week ago that D-Luxe released the seasonal Dubliner Burger and Irish Cream Gelato Shake, for which we have a full review posted – click here to see the details of those delicious items. This time around, they’ve introduced a new Bananas Foster flavor of their signature Gelato Shake that is not tied to any specific holiday or event.

D-Luxe Burger

D-Luxe Burger is situated next to the Welcome Center (Guest Relations) and is also adjacent to Blaze Pizza. D-Luxe offers mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app, but guests are welcome to walk in and order at the counter, though there is often a line.

Bananas Foster Shake

The new Bananas Foster Gelato Shake, like other D-Luxe Burger shakes, goes beyond merely adding the title flavor to some gelato and blending it up. This shake consists of their signature gelato base, banana rum and marshmallow flavoring, crushed graham cracker crust, a dousing of caramel inside the cup, a generous portion of whipped cream, and a caramel drizzle on top. Do note that the banana rum flavoring is just that – flavoring. Despite D-Luxe Burger offering a few alcoholic shakes, most are non-alcoholic, and this Bananas Foster variety falls into the latter category.

The presentation of the shake is, as is often the case from D-Luxe Burger, very nice. The caramel drizzles inside the cup and atop the whipped cream are the most noticeable visual elements, and the item is assembled in a way that just screams “hand crafted”. One look at the shake and you know you’re in for a treat.

Not to be outdone by the aesthetics, the flavor of this shake is also a big win for D-Luxe (and guests who order it). We found the banana rum flavoring to be very true to the dessert it seeks to replicate in frozen form. Additionally, the caramel does manage to break through the more prevalent flavor to add a touch of toasted sweetness to the banana. The marshmallow is subtle and adds a hint of vanilla, and the crushed graham cracker crust delivers a nice buttery flavor and a dash of cinnamon.

Sticking with the crushed graham cracker crust, that’s where we need to start when considering the texture of this item. Not only is it the most noticeable element, but perhaps our favorite. Shakes can, at times, be a bit boring on account of their lack of textural variety. That is certainly not the case here – the graham cracker serves up a minimal crunch, but accentuates the blended gelato extremely well. The sips that contained ample amounts of the crust were not only our favorite for texture, but flavor as well.

The gelato base was blended to a smooth consistency, though it was slightly thinner than other shakes we’ve enjoyed from D-Luxe. Despite that, we would by no means say this was a watery shake – it was still acceptably thick, but perhaps wouldn’t have survived summer heat for long. Thankfully, we’re still in the cooler months, so the dessert fared well outdoors.

Bananas Foster Shake

Overall, the new Bananas Foster Gelato Shake at D-Luxe Burger is a new addition to a long line of delicious items. The flavors and texture blend well to create a balanced and flavorful treat that is exactly what you’d expect from an item carrying the Bananas Foster name. The shake, as with all non-alcoholic shakes at D-Luxe, costs $7.50.
