We’re checking in on the old Innoventions West building at EPCOT as demolition continues. The building is being destroyed to make way for the Journey of Water Inspired by Moana attraction.
From beneath Spaceship Earth, we can see into the building that once housed The Art of Disney store. Walls have been knocked down around most of the building.
Closer to the building, we can see that the inside has been stripped down to steel beams. Only one window remains to the left.
Most of the roof overhang has been removed from this section of the building.
A high reach was parked nearby this remaining building, but no construction workers were visible.
More of the roofing has been torn down on this side.
The construction walls in this area reflect the future water theming—both for the Moana “Journey of Water” walkthrough attraction and The Seas.
It’s clear to see where pieces of the roof were literally torn off.
Colored elements have been removed from the supports on this side of the building.
Meanwhile, work has begun on the interior of Innoventions East.
Innoventions East previously housed Electric Umbrella and Mouse Gear, but will be home to a newly redesigned Mouse Gear location, as well as a Starbucks, Club Cool, and quick-service dining concept. For now, a makeshift Mouse Gear has been relocated to a temporary location. This area will be known as the World Celebration neighborhood.
What are you looking forward to seeing in the “new” EPCOT? Let us know in the comments.
Where will they be moving my favorite store in Epcot?
Is there a completion date for all this given this year’s circumstances?
