Demolition of the Electric Umbrella is moving at a steady pace in EPCOT as the building prepares to become a new Starbucks location and new restaurant. Gone are the second floor and neon décor, and the roof and ceiling demolition has begun to strip the structure down to the framework.

Right now, the majority of roof demolition seems to be focused on a patch closest to the pathway to Future World East, soon to be known as World Discovery.

The framework is now completely exposed. The blue tarp that hung over the section has been removed, revealing the metal underneath.

On the northern end of the building, construction equipment focuses on interior demolition.

Most of the things we saw dangling from the ceiling last time have been removed, suggesting that most of the work now will concentrate on structural elements.

On the right, we can see exposed beams from the refurbishment of Mouse Gear, which has temporarily relocated while work on the building continues.

Sadly, the days of people-watching through the large windows have ended for now.

While some construction has been delayed due to be not being designated as “priority projects,” it seems the destruction will continue for the foreseeable future.
