Work is well underway on the refurbishment of the Main Street, U.S.A. train station at the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully, covering the station in scrim doesn’t mean we have to completely lose its iconic look.
Theming has been added to the scrim, replicating the look of the platform when it’s uncovered.
It’s possible that the theming could be extended to the top level of the scrim (currently covering the station’s clock) to provide a nicer view as guests enter.
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over two years to accommodate construction of TRON Lightcycle / Run, but recently, tracks have been laid over by the Fantasyland station, suggesting that work has begun in earnest to prepare the attraction for reopening.
Prior to the park’s closure back in March, a train was on exhibition at the Main Street U.S.A. station and later the Fantasyland station, though the refurbishment has prompted that opportunity to be removed.
At least the theming will allow guests to take a halfway-decent picture in front of the station as the holiday crowds begin to arrive to the park, though it’s no replacement for the actual station.
Currently, no timeline has been announced for the railroad’s return.
