Walt Disney World continues to be battered by wind and rain this weekend. If you’re spending time in the parks or resort hotels this afternoon, please be aware that the weather can rapidly deteriorate as we’re currently witnessing at Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World resides in both Orange County and Osceola County, which are both currently under Thunderstorm Warnings as of approximately 12:30 PM.

The Dangerous Thunderstorm Alert has since been renewed as a thunderstorm in the area “has an increased potential to produce severe weather such as very frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail, and/or damaging winds” as guests saw yesterday. We’re currently experiencing these effects at Magic Kingdom.

We were being rained on at the Magic Kingdom bus loop as guests wearing rain ponchos flocked to the busses.

The heavy rain was leaking through the roof as gutters are unable to hold the tremendous downpour.

Though we took these photos at midday, the clouds made it look like evening and the lights around the bus loop came on. Watch our video below of these severe rains.

Outdoor attractions, cavalcades, and character appearances are currently paused at all four theme parks while the rain continues and the Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place.

For thunderstorm terminology, please note that a “Thunderstorm Watch” means that weather conditions are expected to produce potentially dangerous weather, such as heavy rain, hail, and/or strong gusts of wind. A “Thunderstorm Warning” means that a thunderstorm is currently in the area. If you see this warning, please take all precautions and seek shelter immediately.

We will be closely monitoring the weather throughout the day here at WDWNT and will update here via Twitter if conditions change.
