Speculation Map Released for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, Lists Possible 2021 Houses, No Scarezones or Shows

Universal Studios Hollywood has yet to confirm the return of their hit event, Halloween Horror Nights, but rumors indicate its return this fall. Universal Studios Florida, Hollywood’s sister park, has confirmed the return of their event and even announced haunted houses. Earlier today, we brought you a look at the beginning of haunted house construction at Universal Studios Hollywood.

@HHNightmares, an Orlando-based Halloween Horror Nights fan account, posted the 2021 version of their annual speculation map today on Twitter. We broke down Orlando’s speculation map already, so let’s take a look at what may lay in store for Hollywood.

Houses

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The speculation map places The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the sprung tent beside Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride, where construction has already begun. The popular slasher franchise has been featured in mazes at Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights four times, as recently as 2016.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

Halloween III is predicted to be located in the WaterWorld queue, another location where construction is underway. The Halloween movies have been featured before, including Halloween I, II, and IV. They’ve gone a little out of order but may jump back to Halloween III for this year’s event.

Beetlejuice

The ghost with the most is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood! This one seems very likely as it was already confirmed for Orlando’s event this year and even opened for a 3-day period last fall. The map predicts we will see Beetlejuice in Curious George Tent 1.

The Curse of Pandora’s Box 2

The Curse of Pandora’s Box was a house at the event in 2019, and if rumors are true, we will see a sequel this year in Curious George Tent 2.

The Walking Dead Attraction

Universal counts The Walking Dead Attraction as a maze during Halloween Horror Nights. Since it closed to daytime guests permanently in 2020, it can be considered the tenth house.

The Haunting of Hill House

Rumors of a maze based on the hit Netflix show The Haunting of Hill House have been brewing since the show’s release in 2018. After the success of the Stranger Things houses, fans have predicted that Netflix would be eager to work with Universal again. If true, we may see this house come to Soundstage 29.

The Bride of Frankenstein Lives

Last but certainly not least, it looks like we may see a version of The Bride of Frankenstein Lives come to the west coast. As one of two houses that operated daily at Universal Orlando Resort last year, it is a likely bet for both coasts this year.

Attractions

The speculation map lists only four attractions operating during Halloween Horror Nights this year: The Simpsons Ride, Jurassic World – The Ride, Transformers 3-D, and Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride.

Shows and Scarezones

In stark contrast to the speculation for Orlando’s event, Universal Studios Hollywood is not expected to have any live shows or scarezones this year. California’s COVID-19 policies have been much stricter than Florida’s, so it’s no surprise that the two events may differ more than usual this year.

Stay tuned to UPNT for more news about Halloween Horror Nights on both coasts!

  1. !!!! Fingers crossed! I thought they closed The Walking Dead attraction because of the Secret Life of Pets ride. It would be great to have it back- even if it’s just for HHN. Looking forward to your updates.

  2. I hope they have the terror tram running again and it drops you off then you walk through a large scare area by the crashed plane. That is one of my favorites.

  3. Jurrasic World? the ride? that area is located at island not universal… the inf doesn’t has any sense, beside universal website posted something for fans to help them to names the scarezones
