Quiet on set; we’re ready to roll! We came down to Universal Studios Hollywood for an evening of nighttime entertainment and a stroll around the park. Come along with us to see the sights and sounds of the Entertainment Capital of Los Angeles.

Driving in to the park on this hazy Los Angeles day, the spires of Hogwarts Castle hang in the gloom above the streets of the city.

Our first stop inside the park was, of course, the Universal Studios Store to check out the new Grinch apparel.

The Halloween Horror Nights 2021 merchandise, or what’s left of it, is now 90% off or more. Picking through the XXL or small shirt selections is spotty, but a great deal if you can find your size.

The panoramic viewpoint halfway down the Starway gives a great look at Los Angeles, if you can see it through the smog.

It also gives a good vantage point to check on the Super Nintendo Land construction site.

It looks like not much has changed since our last visit.

The Lower Lot was considerably less crowded than it was last weekend, which we were grateful for.

This line is never short! What a great day.

Back at the Upper Lot, Shrek is all dressed up in his Holiday sweater and ready to meet some guests.

Speaking of meeting guests, we got to meet The Grinch to celebrate the season that, he says, is all about him — Grinchmas.

As the sun started to set, we knew it was time to light the tree. But not before we got some great shots of it in the afternoon light.

The tree lighting was a little different this year. Rather than all the characters coming out on stage for a short skit before twisting the bulb to light the tree, it was a short recorded audio-only bit from The Grinch and Max.

Of course, there was still snowfall and some beautiful views of the tree.

While we were at Grinchmas, we wanted to try out some of these beautiful Who-liday snacks. These cake jars are just adorable and perfectly festive for the season.

We snuck over to Hogsmeade before the tree lighting to take advantage of the beautiful golden hour light and snap these photos.

While in Hogsmeade, we ducked into The Three Broomsticks for dinner.

The English Holiday Dinner is just fantastic. There’s never a bad meal at The Three Broomsticks, but this one was exceptionally good.

Then after dark, it was time to light up the night. The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle projection show takes place nightly on the castle itself and sets the holiday tone well.

The castle is decorated in garlands, ice, lanterns, wrapping paper, and more as the show cycles through different looks for the iconic landmark.

And it ends with a short burst of pyrotechnics that fill the sky with raining sparkles.

As the crowds hurried to exit the park, we hung around to take pictures and realized that the land emptied rather quickly, affording for some great alone time in Hogsmeade.

And the rest of the Upper Lot was fairly empty as well. It’s nice to see these areas still and calm for a change.

To say goodnight as guests leave the park, the archway is all lit up with a wreath and “Happy Holidays” across the inside.
