REVIEW: Birthday Cake Bread Pudding and Cookies & Cream Cupcake at Saratoga Springs

While staying at the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, we decided to take in a meal at the Artist’s Palette counter service restaurant. While our entrees were quite good, we did order two rather interesting desserts…

The two items are a Cookies & Cream Cupcake and Birthday Cake Bread Pudding.

Birthday Cake Bread Pudding ($3.79)

This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite desserts I have ever had in my entire life. I talked about how much I enjoyed confetti cake when reviewing the Mini Confetti Cake at Contempo Cafe, well, this bread pudding succeeds everywhere where that dessert fails.

I’m not sure I would define it as bread pudding, but it was pretty much the most incredibly moist piece of confetti cake. The moist center is accented nicely by the crunchy top portion drizzled with icing. If there was any reason for you to travel to Saratoga Springs during your Walt Disney World vacation (which is few and far between), this is it.

Milk and Cookies Cupcake ($5.49)

It’s really hard to enjoy any other dessert after how amazing the bread pudding was, but this was a fairly enjoyable cupcake. This is a vanilla cupcake with a very light milky icing on top, filled with chocolate chip cookie dough. This isn’t sickeningly sweet like most Disney cupcakes, with the frosting more akin to a whipped cream than anything referred to as frosting. The cookie dough actually tasted like real cookie dough, not the fake version that usually gets inserted in theme park treats, which is nice.

To be fair, I loved this, but the other people in our group were not as enamored with it. If you need just one dessert, go for the Birthday Cake Bread Pudding, but if you can go for a second, I’d personally recommend it.

    • I feel your pain Cheeseburger Flatbread. I thought I was Tom’s favorite attraction but then I got a makeover and suddenly he was all “uninterested”.

      • I am in the same boat as you guys. I thought that I could be Tom’s new favorite attraction, but apparently he has baggage from a previous relationship.
