*NEW* Giant Tostada de Barbacoa: Braised Barbacoa Beef on a Giant Tostada with Chipotle Black Bean Purée, Salsa Verde, Queso Cotija, Crema Mexicana and Pickled Onion – $10.50
The tostada itself is very basic and tastes like a tortilla chip.
The chipotle black bean purée pairs well with the pickled onion but it’s lacking in chipotle flavoring. The barbaoca is well seasoned and that’s where the spice kicks in.
The crema adds a little bit of cream and moisture and the queso cojita brings salt to the dish.
Altogether, it tastes like a elevated loaded nacho. We’d get this again.
*NEW* Cochinita Pibil Tamal: Cochinita Pibil in Corn Masa topped with Pipián Sauce, Queso Cotija and Crema Mexicana – $8.00
The corn masa is dense and is dry. The cochinita pibil is moist and has a slight spice to it. It definitely helps to bring more flavor into the corn masa.
The pipián sauce has flavoring that reminded us of butter chicken, but it adds moisture and brings life to the dish.
Still, we’d probably get the tostada again over this.
Dulce de Leche Churros sprinkled with Cinnamon-Sugar – $6.25
This was an okay churro. The Dulce de Leche filling was hard to pin down a taste for. It was just creamy and sweet, almost apple tasting.
It was decent, but not any more exciting than a regular churro.
*NEW* Pomegranate Margarita: Ilegal Mezcal Joven, Black Currant Liqueur, Pomegranate and Ginger Juice with a Hibiscus Salt Rim – $13.75
This is a light margarita. The hibiscus flavor comes through over the pomegranate.
The hibiscus salt rim makes this drink super unique.
It reminds us of a Starbucks refresher with mezcal. Overall, it’s a decent option.
Horchata Margarita: Tequila blanco, corn whiskey, horchata, and cinnamon horchata rum – $13.25
This is like horchata flavored coconut water, and it even says in the description, “Agua de Horchata” so we should have known then. It’s a very thin consistency, and it’s sippable but not entirely drinkable. The cinnamon is hard to find here, and no flavors stand out either.
*NEW* Holiday Cerveza: Cielito Lindo Artisanal Mexican Beer blended for the holiday season (4.5% ABV) – $11.00
We found this to be very interesting. It’s an IPA, and there are a lot of hops.
There’s a strange citrus aftertaste, but after that, we had a hard time getting anything past the hops. it reminded us of the Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City Brewing.
