When Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened on October 1, 2021, at the France Pavilion at EPCOT, the ride vehicles were exactly the same as the ones used at Disneyland Paris. However, the configuration of some of the ride vehicles at the Walt Disney World Resort have been modified.
Originally, the ride vehicles, which are in the shape of a rat, had two rows with defined seat barriers in each row, as pictured above. The vehicles are the same versions that the Disneyland Paris version opened with in 2014.
We recently took a ride on the trackless attraction and discovered that the small partitions on some of the ride vehicles had been removed. In their place is a smooth bench seat to better accommodate guests of all sizes.
However, we did notice that some other ride vehicles still maintained the small dividers. When asked, Cast Members did not know if or when the other ride vehicles would be modified from three individual seats to bench seating. The need to accommodate more large guests and guests with accessibility needs seems likely to have facilitated the change, although Disney has not publicly indicated any reasons.

I’m plus size so I struggled with partition seating. The biggest issue was Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Then you’re fat ass shouldn’t be allowed to ride and put everyone else in danger. There should be a weight limit going to Disney just like there’s a weight limit on an elevator. You fat people are getting ridiculous and it’s not plus size your obese fat
Why would you read an article AND comment on it if you “don’t care”?
Lol! Get a life!!!
I agree, Heather. But it also helps accommodate a group of four, say, parents and two kids. It’s kind of rude to imply that Americans are fat. I know we are, but I read another article on the same topic that didn’t go there.
I like the partitioned seats. They ensured that no one was impacting my comfort and enjoyment of the experience.
I am considered “Plus Sized” but never have many issues riding, even at Universal. But! The first time I rode Remy’s was one of the few times I’ve felt uncomfortable aside from Seven Dwarves mine train. Even if you simply have wide hips, they were a struggle. I’m glad it’s changed!
Personally I think it’s wonderful that Disney considers any type of situation including larger plus size people this is one thing I have always bragged about Disney is they care to have everyone have a good experience so I think that bench seating instead of individual seating is good idea. I for one have larger hips and it’s nice to not have to worry about if you’ll fit in a seating area or not comfortably
“Large Size American” aside, I am an average sized Canadian, but I have a leg-based disability that prevents me from bending my knee past a certain point. Less than 90degree, to give an rough estimate. This makes it so I don’t “fit” a lot of things sitting straight forward. These bench seats, which are available on most rides (and were definitely there during my visit on the 26th to 30th) are a blessing as it allows me to sit with a bit of a sideways angle, or to at least position my leg in such a way that I can fit. Most rides have room because of the bench design — such as the same open shell design used for Little Mermaid Buzz Lightyear, and Haunted Mansion… or the wide bench style of Splash Mountain, Pirates, and Small World — and that allows me to ride and have fun same as anyone else. Sadly the ONLY ride I couldn’t fit on (excluding more kid focused rides like Dumbo which I passed on and never tried) was the 7 Dwarves ride and that was exclusively because it had the devider and I couldn’t fit in the forced bucket position.
This is a great improvement for the ride design and I do hope 7 dwarves does the same one day.
