It’s only a few weeks until we’re living in color for the Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary “Dream-Go-Round” celebration, which takes place from April 15, 2023 to March 31, 2024. And as anticipation builds for the anniversary, the resort has released its first commercial for the celebration, featuring a snippet of the theme song!
The new ad shows off the 40th logo at the outset, and focuses heavily on CGI confetti and “Dream Garland” bunting which will be prominent throughout the celebration’s decor. We see Mickey in his incredibly colorful 40th Anniversary outfit as a family spots Disney characters and Cast Members gathered in the background. Characters like Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Chip, and Dale all boast their special anniversary costumes while other characters like Rapunzel and Judy Hopps also make an appearance. The ad closes with a little girl running towards the character ensemble with the anniversary slogan “You’ve waited so long” above.
The most interesting thing about the new ad is the little snippet of the theme song “Living in Color” which plays below. The song still has not been previewed or released in any form yet, so it’s a nice sneak peek at what we’ll hear in Japan for the next year.
The anniversary kicks off on April 15 featuring the new “Disney Harmony in Color” daytime parade, Themed to a “harmonious world of colors,” the parade showcases themes of adventure, courage, family bonds and friendship through various stories from Disney and Pixar films. The finale features a magnificent float that will take guests on a journey to a harmonious world of vibrant colors that is filled with dreams. Mickey Mouse and many other well-known Disney friends, including characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia and Pixar’s Coco, will also make an appearance throughout.
