Star Wars Month

In celebration of the franchise’s popularity, Disneyland will be extending the usual “May the Fourth” special offerings into an entire month-long event in May.

According to the OC Register, the month-long event “will feature ‘epic encounters’ and themed food and beverage items inspired by the cinematic galaxy far, far away.”

The month is being kicked off with a couple of fan-favorite events, starting with the Hyperspace Mountain overlay and Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nites.

Hyperspace Mountain Overlay

Hyperspace Mountain is due to reopen in early May for the May the Fourth festivities!

The Hyperspace Mountain overlay began as a seasonal event in 2015 and continues to delight guests every year during the “Star Wars” celebration. The ride experience features iconic music by John Williams, and as riders plummet through the darkness on the indoor coaster, they enjoy thrilling additional features on the attraction, such as scenes of X-Wings, Starfighters, and even the Millennium Falcon fly across the screens inside Space Mountain.

Disneyland After Dark: ‘Star Wars’ Nite

The enormously popular Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nite is already sold out for all four of its dates in early May. Guests with a special ticket for this event can enter Disneyland without a park reservation on May 2, 4, 8, or 11, depending on which date they purchased their ticket.

Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nite includes multiple exciting events, including special food and beverage offerings, character meet-and-greets, and shorter-than-usual lines on popular attractions. The evening also usually features a fireworks show set to “Star Wars” music over Sleeping Beauty Castle.

These special events only serve to begin the party this year, though, as Disneyland has indicated it intends to celebrate “Star Wars” for the entire month of May.

What do you think of a month-long “Star Wars” celebration (“This is the May?” Or no way?) We’d love to see your thoughts in the comments below.
