The prolonged closure of Primeval Whirl at Disney’s Animal Kingdom just got even longer. Dinoland U.S.A. will now be without its signature coaster through August 3, 2019.
First reported closed on June 17, 2019, the reason for the closure has yet to be announced by Disney.
Primeval Whirl was previously expected to reopen on July 28, 2019, so guests should be wary of another extension to the closure. All guests with a current FastPass for the attraction during the downtime period will receive a Multiple Experience FastPass for an attraction in the same tier.
Stay tuned to WDWNT for updates on this ongoing closure.
I don’t believe it’s closed due to maintenance. I just saw on Screamscape that the same model of spinning coaster that Disney uses for Primeval Whirl was involved in an accident at Lightwater Valley in the UK at the end of May where a boy fell out of the vehicle. That coaster has yet to reopen while it’s being investigated to see if ride operation policies were followed correctly or if it malfunctioned, and similarly, Primeval Whirl has been closed for about the same amount of time as well.
