REVIEW: Deck the Halls (With Frozen Eggnog) and a Surprisingly Good Carved Turkey Sandwich at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2019

For many, it just isn’t the holidays without an ice cold glass of eggnog. This year, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café has you covered with Deck the Halls, a beverage made of frozen eggnog topped with whipped cream, confetti sprinkles, and a chocolate bulb. They’re also offering a new Carved Turkey Sandwich! Described as an “oven-roasted turkey with Applewood smoked bacon, smoked gouda, chipotle garlic aïoli, lettuce, and tomato on a roll”, let’s see how this departure from the usual cosmic grub fares for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Partygoers.

The Carved Turkey Sandwich is added to the digital menu board upon the start of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, while the Deck The Halls is available all day long.

Although visually not the most appealing food item, it was a pretty good sandwich. At this point, we’ve been practically trained to be afraid of any new foods from Cosmic Ray’s… so much so that we made salmonella jokes leading up to getting it. But, we were pleasantly surprised with this holiday offering. The sandwich is piled high with big slices of turkey and Cosmic Ray’s infamous Chipotle Garlic Aioli sauce, which we found absent from the condiment stations during the party, interestingly enough.

It isn’t going to change your life, but if you need a real meal while you’re running around the party, it’s a viable option, and worth a try if you want to mix up your quick service routine.

Like the Turkey Sandwich from Cosmic Ray’s, we were hesitant to try the eggnog from here. But again, it was a tasty holiday beverage.

The presentation was cute and the frozen eggnog was, in our opinion, better then the traditional eggnog drink they serve throughout the park during the party.

Do note that the Deck the Halls is a really heavy drink. Egg Nog is heavy enough as it is, and in frozen form, it really sticks to your ribs. That being said, this is best enjoyed shared with the rest of your group. Go on, pass that soggy paper straw around.

This beverage is available during regular park operating hours, so you can enjoy the taste of frozen eggnog all day.
