We’ve been tracking the demolition of the Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios daily on twitter, but I thought today might be a good day to share a photo on the site:
As you can see, the front of Mickey’s hand is gone, but so is most of the hat above the brim. The demolition is expected to still take a few more weeks, but following that, it is rumored that a permanent stage ill take the place of the Sorcerer’s Hat. Only time will tell…
I feel if Walt was still alive, the hat would have been taken down over night. Usually tarps are up when taking down or renovating a structure. I find the days into a couple weeks seems like we are picking at a wound that won’t heal.
If Walt was alive? I looked it up but couldn’t find Walt Disney’s track record on demolition. Where did you derive this opinion?
If Walt were still alive, I get the feeling DHS would be an entirely different animal than what we have now, and there never would have been a thought to putting up the giant hat to start with.
Nobody knows what Walt would have done. He died in the 60’s and the world has changed a lot since then. Also this would not have went down over night no matter who was doing it. Also things take time the Matterhorn was under construction in plain view for over a year….no tarps, no pretty scrims just steel work. The speed they are moving at now is an amazing pace for Disney and for once I applaud them for moving at a decent rate.
Don’t people want a clear view down the street to see the Great Movie Ride so why would disney ever put a stage in place of the hat? Sorry but the stage rumor is stupid.
More pictures please! I love the hat and I want to stay on top of its sad demolition. DHS will never be the same without the BAH.
Is there any BAH left? It has been 5 days since the last picture.
Where are the next pictures?????????????
