UPDATE: Guests at Some Disney Resorts Being Moved Due to Hurricane Matthew

Guests staying at some Disney resorts hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort are being moved for their safety.

Disney is offering a change of accommodations for guests at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. Disney is offering these guests rooms at many of their other resort hotels on property and not any one specific resort.

The accommodation changes are being made today as Disney hopes to have these guests out of Fort Wilderness by Thursday.

  1. We are scheduled to arrive on Saturday (coming from Louisiana)…..supposedly will be day behind storm, but worried we would be coming in to chaos. Any thoughts?

    • We too are suppose to leave tomorrow from Denver. I am so upset but I guess in perspective cozy in Denver is better than stuck in a Hurricane. It is really upsetting all around. Stay safe for those who are there! I am crazy in Denver trying to plan what mother nature is going to do!!!

  2. We were there in 2006 for Wilma and WDW was fabulous. I think you should continue your plans. They took good care of us, helped with our flights and opened the parks and such quickly when it was over.

  3. we were at fort wilderness but left today and moved our rv to a campground in the tampa area. we hope to return after the storm.

  4. We book through Disney for Tuesday and they gave us a full refund we were booked at Fort wilderness we’re staying there in are rv they took very good care of us and no fees class act

  5. Children and hurricane force winds do not mix! Currently on the grounds of wdw and won’t be venturing out during the hurricane myself, regardless if the park is open. Frankly I think parents that bring their small children to a cat 3-4 are grossly irresponsible!

    • It’s not like anyone intentionally books a vacation during a hurricane, geez, my grandchildren are there now w/ their parents and as long as its safe( no lightning, windy) I m sure they will be fine, BTW they are planning lots of games/ coloring/ and charging up their handheld to ride out the storm in their WDW resort room, nothing irresponsible about that!!!

  6. We are flying to Orlando – Disney for our 60th birthdays with 3 other couples this Saturday, for Oct. 8-11. Coming from Wisconsin. Are we crazy?

  7. Flying in Saturday evening from DC and staying until Thursday. Friends of ours in the area say that WDW will get some wind and a ton of rain since it’ll be on the western edge of Matthew. Meteorologists are predicting that Matthew will hit FL on Friday and be in SC on Saturday. I guess we’ll fly over it. I’m concerned that this hurricane doubles back like some of the models are showing and hits FL again…

  8. Bull crap. Told yesterday afternoon by white haired gentlemen in lobby of fort wilderness campground he would re locate us to disney hotel. He lied. Had to leave by Thursday morning by 11. Had to drive all the way to panhandle of Florida Destin in central time zone to be exact . Last time Disney will ever see me.
    Tom from Philly

  9. I feel that Disney should have put you up in a Disney hotel since it wasn’t safe to stay in Wilderness Campground. Shame on them! So sorry for that, Tom!
