It seems the Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs will not be opening in mid-December 2016 as originally anticipated…
Guests with mid-December reservations were contacted today and told that their reservations were cancelled. Those with late-December reservations have still not received word if their reservations will be honored, most likely because Planet Hollywood simply does not know at this time. The official website for the Planet Hollywood Observatory is now only taking reservations beginning January 3rd, 2017.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
It will be worth the wait. From what I read here, and on other sites, this will be cooler than Disney has put in their parks in a LOOOONG time. Thank goodness Disney Springs is run by operating participants with Disney Oversight. So much entertainment, performers too. Reminds me of WDW of years ago. Minus a couple rides, but that’s ok. So excited to see the Disney Springs area done.
You keep posting this stoopid nonsense. If you had half a brain, you’d notice that what’s going on right now (lack of maintenance, destroying theming everywhere, over charging for free included perks, etc) is what a third party with no idea nor care about what Disney wanted to do would be doing.
IOW dimwit troll, Disney is now being run by a third party.
Adam: Disney Pete is known to troll on WDW Today. The 3rd party run locations have the benefit of a lot of freedom to do “more” with meeting Disney’s minimum standards. Disney only run places only meet the “minimum standard” which quite frankly, isn’t set very high for consideration of being special for customers, their goal is about efficiency and profitability.
These trolls are so unimaginative…
I guess being third party helped Planet Hollywood to have a good refurb schedule, right? They’re right on time with their opening. Which day are they opening again?
Wanna see how third party Disney is nowadays? Almost none of the current managers come from within the company.
Wanna know why Disney was entertaining the idea of buying Twitter? Because one of the current (as of 2013) company directors is a former Twitter founder!!!
“Jack Dorsey, 38, is the founder and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Twitter, Inc., a developer and provider of mobile communication applications, since 2008 and as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Square, Inc., a provider of payment processing services, since 2009. Mr. Dorsey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Twitter from 2007 to 2008 and has been a director of Twitter since 2007. He has been a Director of the (Disney) Company since 2013”
Wanna know why there are so many Starbucks all of the sudden? Because another of the Disney directors was a director for Starbucks! And she’s a facebook CEO too!
“Sheryl Sandberg, 45, has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Inc., an online social networking company, since 2008. From 2001 to 2008, Ms. Sandberg was the Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations for Google Inc., an Internet search engine company. Ms. Sandberg also is a former Chief of Staff of the United States Treasury Department and previously served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and as an economist with The World Bank. Ms. Sandberg served as a director of Starbucks Corp. from 2009 to 2012. She also serves on a number of nonprofit boards including Women for Women International, and V-Day. She served as a director of eHealth, Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and as a director of Facebook since June 2012. She has been a Director of the (Disney) Company since 2010.”
Troll better!!!
Disney pete, your ill educated post of names doesn’t have anything to do with the fact Disney doesn’t run Disney Springs and 3rd party vendors are calling the shots… Troll even harder little boy!
The observatory concept is very cool, and a refreshing entertaining change from the parks that’s all promotions now. It will be open by the time we get there for New Years! I don’t think Disney has much oversight as Adam posted above. Which is probably a good thing. Disney would have cut budget to bones on this Disney Springs stuff given the opportunity. Can’t wait to go back, was there in August. Clean. Staffed. Well done. Only with Adventurers and comedy club would have made the cut. :)
It won’t open Before Jan.
I only hope the management and staff can turn one of the worst restaurants on property into a decent one, at least. I still love Earl of Sandwich, even if PH reached that level of value and good tasting food, this would be a better place than in the past. (PH and Earl shared a CEO, Robert Earl – at least in the past).
