With the opening just days away, the sign and other new details of the controversial facade for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout were revealed yesterday at Disney California Adventure.
As you can see, the finished product of the facade has been unveiled to guests, including the marquee which will welcome them to the attraction when it opens on May 27th.
The sign is pretty ingenious in that is appears to have been first made to promote the Tivan Collection and the appearance of the trapped Guardians of the Galaxy, but Rocket Raccoon has had a little fun with it.
Letters from “First Time on Display” are ripped off, used to spell out part of the attraction’s name (kudos to whoever figured out that this would work), with “Breakout” painted over the sign.
These strange totems featuring items from the collection are also on display now outside of the attraction’s entrance.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout opens May 27th, 2017 at the Disneyland Resort.
Very clever sign.
I’m excited about this. Nice change.
I’m also glad the far superior Walt Disney World version of Twilight Zone stays as it is.
(for now at least)
There’s still more to know about what’s inside. It would be long until the final details are revealed.
????
I strongly disliked this sign when I first saw it. I thought it didn’t make any sense to have a “Tivan Collection” sign advertising with the word “Mission” at the bottom, only for the word “Breakout” to be written as graffiti.
But then, thanks to this article, I now see that the “MISSION:” is made to look like it was hastily installed using letters robbed from elsewhere in the sign. Great touch!
It reminds me of the “EVIL TOWER U R DOOMED” message at the bottom of the lobby sign in the WDW Tower of Terror spelled from the letters that had fallen out of the hotel directory.
And I’m with Jeff… I’m generally in favor of this ride replacing the DCA Tower (with the exception of the possible loss of consistency with the Red Car and surrounding area), but I really hope they leave the far superior DHS Tower of Terror alone!
