Just as was done at Rock ‘ N’ Roller Coaster a few months ago, Disney has added a pre-show video to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction at the Magic Kingdom, hoping it will help guests load into the carts faster, thus reducing wait times.
The screen is located just before the load area, as the line splits into even and odd-numbered parties of riders. The video is animated in a rather clever style, as if the Dwarfs built an automated device in the style of some of the other props found in the ride.
Similar videos were also added to Space Mountain and Toy Story Midway Mania over the last year.
What might help shorten wait times for the Mine Train is if everyone knew what a HUGE disappointment this ride turned out to be. The animatronics are awesome!!! But that’s about it… the ride itself doesn’t really do much of anything. Glorified dark ride… but you only get to be a part of the “dark ride” experience for 1 minute.
Shut up, stupid. ????
I disagree. Based on the space restrictions they had to work within to not make that area even more congested, I think they did a nice job. My younger children love that ride, I think it is primarily us older folks who look for a lengthier attraction.
Exactly. It’s a “younger children” ride. And for me it’s not really the length, it’s just that it doesn’t really do anything exciting until you get into the mine with the Dwarfs.
Is the screen visible to people in the fast pass and stand-by lines?
Yes, they have merged at this point.
A funny gaffe: one vignette goes to great lengths illustrating that your should remove your hat before you board the train. The very next vignette shows the same dwarves getting in the car with their hats on. :)
Maybe big thunder mountain will add a pre-show video too as a rumor?
