Since even before Hurricane Irma struck, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at the Walt Disney World Resort has been closed for the safety of guests and then for the clean up of the area. Despite many “fake news” articles claiming it would remain closed, Fort Wilderness and many of its offerings have reopened today, Wednesday, September 20th, 2017.
While Disney was trying to get the resort back open for Monday, the tree damage was far more extensive than they had originally estimated. Regardless, guests may now return to the resort for reservations, dining, and recreation.
Why was this such a strong rumor that they might keep FW closed? It appears that FW is still very popular for guests. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last month and biked through FW and it seemed full and people seemed to be enjoying the “camping out” setting. And we still go to the Hoop de Doo every year and have a blast. I might never stay in FW, but I always enjoy going over there.
I found it hilarious that you wrote out the full reopening date with 2017 at the end ????. That’s why you’re the best!
