After being dark for several weeks, the Navi Drum Circle show in Pandora: The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom returned today. The show has been shortened quite a bit and much of the dialogue “dumbed-down” so more guests understand what’s happening.
Over 5 minutes of the show was cut and one song is now used to summon a Banshee. Other than that, there were no other major changes and no new songs. You can see the original show below:
That show was already pretty dumb. If I wanted to watch a bunch of hippies have a drum circle while appropriating a culture they have nothing to do with, I’ll swing by my local college.
No videos appear. I’m on desktop Windows 10, using Firefox.
We are looking into it.
So you could say it was ‘drummed down’ then
Tom, As long as the parks are busting at the seams, there’s no reason for Mr. Iger and Mr. Chapek to think any other way. Disney customers should expect to pay more for A LOT less and to wait a lot longer for it. Guests watching shows aren’t spending more money, and that is the one and only goal aside from bad publicity. Safety, customers wanting to return, giving them value does not really matter past the advertising. I love working at Avatar, the concept and franchise is amazing, we’re also worried as there’s talks of shortening the Flight of Passage ride this summer by approximately 70 seconds, and reducing staff would would save money due to less lines by a shortened ride. Every second and penny counts to our proprietors when customers aren’t spending money.
This is really sad as this was a fantastic and really lyrical feeling show. The music is still great but it just doesn’t feel like a ceremony anymore.
Conversely, this was the biggest cringe fest I’ve ever seen. Really just awful.
They don’t need entertainment in Pandora. They need to stop cutting entertainment in other areas of the park. They need bigger walkways in Pandora…not ways to stop people in the middle. But whatever….
We visited for the first time a few months ago. We were wondering why there were no Navi walking around. Where did they all go?
