CASTING CALL: Help Create Magic for WDWNT Virtual Resort, Our Own Digital Theme Park

At WDWNT over the last ten years, we have tried some crazy things, but perhaps the most ambitious to date is WDWNT VR. For those unfamiliar with the project, here is our initial announcement:

With the growing popularity of our articles about Armchair Imagineering and the ever-growing list of extinct attractions at the Disney Parks, WDWNT will virtually construct a theme park project that combines the best, past and present, of the attractions, landmarks, and entertainment that make up the real-life magical places from around the globe.

WDWNT VR will be a way on your computer or via VR headset to visit and enjoy a theme park experience no matter where you live.

The project will begin with a celebration of Hollywood Studios (including the Great Movie Ride, Catastrophe Canyon, the original Star Tours, Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights) as well as some attractions from the Disneyland Resort (World of Color, Indiana Jones Adventure), eventually expanding to EPCOT Center as well.

We also released a video walkthrough of the project back in November:

As the project continues to grow, we need some help to make this dream a reality, so we are looking for contributors to fill several voluntary, unpaid positions related to WDWNT VR:

Graphic Designer: Replicate existing and create original theme park graphics, signage, and more for our virtual theme park and resort project. Projects would include creating images such as store marquees, warning signs for attractions, and more.

3D Modeler: Replicate existing and create original themed elements for our virtual theme park and resort. Experience with 3D modeling or graphic design required. Preferable programs and applications can be found here.

Builders: Help construct attractions, restaurants, shops and more. No previous experience required, but would need to be willing to learn how to build using Second Life software.

If you would like to help make the magic for WDWNT Virtual Resort, please email us at wdwnewstoday@gmail.com.
