Starting this week, rolling changes are coming to Tomorrowland as it gets ready for the arrival of TRON Lightcycle Power Run and perhaps a larger reimagining.
As part of these changes, iCan the Robot will no longer be offered. His final day of performances will be April 7th, 2018.
As well, the long-standing merchandise cart themed to The Claw and Aliens from Toy Story will close on April 8th, 2018. There is no word on a replacement, but it will likely lose the Toy Story themed elements as they are too similar to the upcoming Toy Story Land.
Last week, we told you that enhancements were coming to the Purple Wall in Tomorrowland. Well, it seems those enhancements are related to an overall repainting of the land that will begin this week. Most of the land will be repainted “crystal white” with some hexagon patterns in places. The hexagons will become more prevalent near the Purple Wall, eventually creating a barrier around the one area that will remain purple. This will look like a portal of sorts, allowing the old purple to fit in with the new color scheme.
These changes come in addition to the ongoing expansion of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and the repainting of Walt Disney Carousel of Progress, both of which have occurred over the last few months.
With TRON Lightcycle Power Run coming in 2021 and the clock ticking on the existence of Stitch’s Great Escape, it would seem all of this ties into a new vision for Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.
