BREAKING: Na’vi River Journey Enters its Third Straight Day of Closure; Flight of Passage Now Open

The bad news continues for guests looking to ride one of the most popular attractions at Animal Kingdom as Na’vi River Journey is closed yet again today. This marks the third straight day of closure for the popular boat ride, and leaves Pandora – The World of Avatar with only one operational attraction.

As we reported yesterday, both Na’vi River Journey and Flight of Passage were closed intermittently on Tuesday, March 24. On Wednesday, the two attractions were closed for the entire operating day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Flight of Passage finally reopened yesterday, Thursday April 26th, but Na’vi River Journey did not.

Guests this morning received a notification on the My Disney Experience app stating:

On behalf of everyone at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, I apologize Na’vi River Journey is unavailable today.

The notification was signed by Djuan Rivers, the Vice President of Animal Kingdom. Whether this means that the attraction is headed for extended downtime remains to be seen.

Don’t fret. While it’s closed, you can watch our video of the entire ride-through!

  1. What does this mean? I have a FP+ for the ride on Sunday evening. Will they give me a FP+ for any attraction?

    • When we went to Disneyworld and the ride we had fast passes for was broken down (big thunder mountain), they let use use the fast pass for any other ride at any time we wanted. Be warned…you just can’t use it on the hottest rides like another Avatar ride or 7 dwarfs mine ride). But, it worked out well.

We went for 10 days and tried on 3 different days to get on an Avatar ride….with the wait time not getting under 3 hours pretty much the entire time….we didn’t get to try any of them. We were upset (and still feel like Disney should make it up to us some how).

    • Honestly, you would be better off not wasting a fastpass on this ride anyway. It’s one of the most boring rides in Florida.

  2. Don’t worry about this ride being closed. It was my least favorite ride in Animal Kingdom. We had more fun walking around the fantastic scenery of Avatar. It is mind blowing. The ride just has a few glowing animatronics and plant life. It was really dull. I wasted a fastpass on it.

  3. That ride was not worth the wait at all. Flight is just a fancy version of Soarin, and the river journey is just boring. It’s like the old ET one from the 90s – a bunch of things to look at after a 90 min wait/waste of a fast pass.

    My two cents.

  4. When are all of these incessant ride closures going to end along with the continual construction projects on Disney property. Both are equally infuriating and ruin the experience that is Disney. I am becoming nauseated by the endless construction projects that choke up traffic and pollute the air with the over abundance of construction machinery. Disney’s only response is to build an idiotic and ridiculous solar panel “farm”, which has proven to bean inefficient source of power.

  5. Only ride the Na’vi River Journey if there’s no line. I rode it and came out confused on why such a boring ride would have such a huge line. Sooooooo boring.
