Earlier this month, the temporary Midnattssol Bakeri opened on the World Showcase promenade outside of the Norway pavilion. This kiosk takes the place of the Kringla Bakeri og Kafe while they expand the kitchen and refurbish the popular quick service. Favorites from the bakery, such as School Bread, are currently available. The only new item is the Viking Dog, and it’s a voyage worth taking. Take note that the Viking Dog is only available after 11 am.
Viking Dog – One-Pound All-Beef Hot Dog served with Purple Cabbage, Spicy Mayonnaise, Bacon, and Fried Onions – $11.75
The hot dog is freshly topped once ordered, so you can rest easy knowing it’s not a pre-assembled mess.
Cross section, for your pleasure.
So, how is it? Really good. The huge all-beef hot dogs that Disney has moved towards are tasty. They have a nice crisp bite and are well cooked everywhere we get them; Norway is no exception. We were worried about the cabbage being overwhelming, and surprisingly it wasn’t. It worked well with the spicy mayonnaise and crispy onions, counteracting with a sweet flavor. The bread was nice and soft, but not very flavorful. This thing is also giant, such that 3-4 guests could enjoy it as a snack.
While we’re not exactly sure if the Vikings would have eaten hot dogs, this one is a winner and a unique choice among Epcot’s growing food selection.
