We went over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out construction of Toy Story Land, and decided to check out how the progress on the interior queue of Toy Story Mania was going. To our surprise, there was more queue unveiled and all 3 tracks were operating. It is very likely that what you see below will not be the final product, since more of the queue is still behind walls as re-routing continues with the transition of the entrance to the back of the building, where Toy Story Land will be located.

Also remember that Toy Story Mania will temporarily close June 11-18 in preparation for the grand opening of Toy Story Land.

  1. The problem with wdw is that they take forever to build anything. From the planning stages to the finish product can take up to five years look at avatar land . While universal it SeaWorld plans and builds right away. Imagine this if you were 10 years old by the time they opened avatar you would have been 15 too long to wait for the magic.

    • It takes a long time since there is a lot of detail that needs to be worked on. If you want to throw up an off the shelf coaster in 2 years after permitting, excavation and handling the Florida soil you can. If you want to replace an existing movie ride with another movie you can do it in less than 2 years. But if you are developing something from scratch, building an entire land, connecting that area to existing infrastructure and build something that will last it takes years.

Things take time, and throwing something half-baked in a year makes poor business sense.

      • Exactly. Disney builds new lands, not just slap some new video and themeing on an existing ride. Rush jobs get you Fast & Furious.

  2. Disney announces projects during the planning stage which makes it seem like the project is that much longer. Universal doesn’t announce until the project is underway.

The Jaws area was demoed and Diagon Alley was already started before Universal announced what was going there. Disney would have announced before even closing Jaws down.
