Jennifer Lee Named Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation, Pete Docter To Lead Pixar Animation Studios

Both of Disney’s animation studios are getting new Chief Creative Officers with the announcement of Jennifer Lee taking over at Walt Disney Animation and Pete Docter at Pixar Animation Studios.

Pete Docter is stepping up at Pixar where he was the director of Up! and Inside Out. Docter has 30 years in the movie industry and started at Pixar 28 years ago at the age of 21.

Jennifer Lee is taking the reigns as CCO at Walt Disney Animation where she was the director of Frozen. Lee has 14 years of experience in the film industry and joined Walt Disney Animation in 2011 to work on Wreck-It Ralph.

Both Lee and Docter take over for outgoing John Lasseter, who was Chief Creative Officer of both divisions.

  1. I’m disappointed in Lee as the choice. Despite her work being wildly successful, I haven’t generally been a fan. Hopefully it’s more Ralph and less Froztopia.
