Disney Acquires Pitch for African Princess Fairytale “Sadé”

Disney has picked up a pitch for “Sadé,” a live-action fantasy film centered on an African princess, according to Deadline.

The pitch, created by Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer, already has a producer attached to the project: Rick Famuyiwa (“Dope”), and will be executive produced by Scott Falconer.

According to Deadline, the film “centers on a young African girl named Sadé who, when her kingdom is threatened by a mysterious evil force, accepts her newly discovered magical warrior powers to protect herself and her people. With the help of the kingdom’s prince, Sadé embarks on an adventure that will allow her to embrace what makes her special and save the kingdom.”

Tendo Nagenda and Zoe Kent will oversee the project for Disney.

We will provide more information as the story develops.

    • Oh Grandpa, you’re so funny! Now go get your robe, hood and torch or you’ll be late for the meeting. Also, it’s “being a date night” so make sure you don’t forget your sister!
