Spreading Happiness Around the World

The latest chapter of a long-standing Disney tradition was revealed today as D23 released the first look at Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday portrait.

The portrait, “Spreading Happiness Around the World,” painted by Disney animator Mark Henn, was commissioned by D23 and the Walt Disney Archives and was revealed at D23’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con celebrating Mickey’s 90th anniversary.

Henn stated, “It is one of the great honors of my career to be asked to paint Mickey’s 90th birthday portrait. I was greatly inspired by the portraits painted by John Hench. I wanted to capture some of the same style and sense of youth that John achieved in his portraits.”

Henn’s portrait will grace the cover of D23’s “Disney twenty-three” magazine’s Fall 2018 issue.
