REVIEW: Rainbow Unicorn Memory Refresher and More Treats from Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff on Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff opened just last week and we had a chance to visit and review some of the offerings. The shop itself in only 1/3 “Sweet Stuff” and the other 2/3 is merchandise which is unfortunate, although not surprising.

The Memory Refreshers are the big hit (probably just because they take a good photo), although we weren’t too impressed with the one we tried.

They are frozen drinks in a variety of flavors, all of which are very sweet.

We tried the Rainbow Unicorn. It is every flavor available, layered in one drink, with Nerds on top. While very enjoyable to look at and photograph, it was less enjoyable to actually drink. The drink stays layered, at least at the beginning. When layered it is kind of enjoyable, but as it sits and melts, the layers begin to blend together and it just becomes too much. Drinking Nerds is also a weird sensation. It was fine, but not great, and very, very sweet. While it may be the best one of the Memory Refreshers to Instagram, I’d suggest going with a simpler one if you are planning on actually drinking it.

Pixar Themed Candy Apples and Cake Pops are sold at the same counter as the Memory Refreshers, along with some more standard confections like the Mickey Rice Crispy Treats, chocolate patties, and chocolate squares.

The Bing Bong Apple is particularly adorable. Your standard Specialty Apple from Disney, it is a crisp Granny Smith Apple covered in caramel and colored white chocolate with a chocolate bow and flower and a fondant hat. This apple is very good! At times the multiple layers of chocolate drown out the apple, but let’s be real, that’s not really what you came for.

The Pixar Cake Pops come in a variety of flavors including watermelon, grape, blackberry, lemon, cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla. We tried the Grape Soda Cake Pop. The cake was very moist and had a subtle grape flavor. The sugar coating and white chocolate Grape Soda medallion added a nice texture.

The store also offers prepackaged treats including Pixar branded candies, cotton candy, saltwater taffy, and flavored popcorn.

For a review of all 8 varieties of saltwater taffy, check out our video:

All in all, Bing Bong’s Sweet stuff is a cute store and welcomed addition to Pixar Pier. The future arrival of Bing Bong will only make it that much sweeter.

  1. Who shelved that candy? Why isn’t Elastigirl next to Mr. Incredible? They’re making goo-goo eyes at each other. And you can’t see it here, but I looked up a pictures of Woody and Sully, and you could shelve Buzz and Woody next to each other, looking at each other, and the same for Mike and Sully. Adorable packaging, delightfully executed, and then screwed up when they put it on the hooks.
