Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is a quick-service restaurant at Magic Kingdom. This location is known for its Tex-Mex and ‘all you care to load up on your tray’ fixins bar. Recently the menu had some interesting changes: the rice bowls are back from hiatus and there is a nachos option now. We made our way out west to check out the nachos.
Veggie Nachos – Tortilla Chips topped with Queso, Zucchini, Squash, Lettuce and Tomato – $9.49
This one isn’t on the printed menu, only showing on mobile order. If you ask a cast member while ordering they can make them, however, so don’t feel the need to mobile order if you don’t want to. The lettuce and tomato, for whatever reason weren’t put on the nachos. That’s fine because they’re available at the fixins bar along with whatever else your heart desires (except queso and guacamole, that’s $1.00 extra). Taking a look at the toppings we can figure out why these are a good deal. Tortilla chips alone are $4.99, queso is $1.00, bringing our total to $5.99 before you add in the veggies on top. $3.50 for a bunch of fresh zucchini and squash feels validated, and the entire dish is pleasant. Of course you need extra sour cream, cheese, and salsa from the fixins bar to make this a meal. It looks pretty plain alone too, but that’s the beauty of Pecos Bill’s. The nachos are also available with the standard chicken or beef options for $12.49. If you don’t want the protein but want a meal that gives fixins bar access, this isn’t a terribly exciting idea but it’s a solid one.
If these came with grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms, roasted butternut squash, corn, or tofu crumbles I would think about it, but as is, these just look kind of sad and squishy. Salsa might help a little, but I feel like you could get much better veggie options for the money.
