REVIEW: Holiday Offerings From Schmoozies! at Disney California Adventure

Holidays have hit Schmoozies in a big way.  Schmoozies! is located in Hollywoodland at Disney California Adventure.  They offer very ambitious treats that are more than just their traditional smoothies and donuts.  The large selection had some hits and misses, but all of the flavors are so authentically Holiday themed that there is at least one that might catch your interest!

Minnie Wreath Donut – $8.99

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Donut

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Minnie Wreath Donut

This donut is the dressiest dessert that Schmoozies has to offer. With its green frosting and chocolate polka dot bow, it’s obvious that it lives up to its name… almost. I would consider this “donut” to be more like a cronut (croissant doughnut mix). It has a flaky texture rather than a doughy one, but it’s still dense and heavy. The chocolate peppermint ganache was my favorite part and I wish there was more on the donut. It is massive and is best as a shared dessert.  If you are a fan of fancy donuts, give the Minnie Wreath Donut a try!

Peppermint Affogato – $5.99

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Affogato

If you love coffee, then this is the dessert for you! This dessert is a Christmas version of Affogato featuring a scoop of peppermint ice cream with a shot of espresso poured over it. The sweetness of the ice cream and the bitterness of the espresso blend very well together. The sugar content and the espresso makes this the perfect pick me up during a long day at the parks!  The price is also right because you would likely spend close to $5.99 each for a coffee and ice cream. This should be on your list if you love an espresso flavor!  This was a personal favorite.

Peppermint Crunch Shake – $6.99

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Peppermint Crunch Shake

This milkshake is extremely photogenic. The green whipped cream looks like a Christmas tree and the chocolate rim adds an extra flare. The milkshake taste, on the other hand, is pretty bland. It’s comparable to the leftover milk in your bowl after you finish eating cereal. The peppermint flavor is very underwhelming and we couldn’t figure out what made this milkshake “crunch.”  We also found the chocolate rim to be not very functional, because it was hard to incorporate into the drink.  I would skip the Peppermint Crunch Shake and look to satisfy my candy cane cravings elsewhere.

Gingerbread Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich – $4.49

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Ice Cream Sandwich

This is a tiny ice cream sandwich that is very light for a dessert. The gingerbread cookie provides most of the flavor. The brown sugar cinnamon ice cream compliments the spiciness of gingerbread cookie balancing the flavors wonderfully. There was much more ice cream than cookie, which wasn’t a problem for me because the ice cream was my favorite part. If you like gingerbread then I would give the Gingerbread Cookie Ice Cream a try!

Cranberry Orange Lemonade – $4.49

Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies, Lemonade

The Cranberry Orange Lemonade is not technically on the seasonal menu, but it is listed as a limited time offering. Overall, this was a very refreshing drink. All of the featured fruits are tart, but it was still semi-sweet and fruity. It didn’t taste like a true lemonade, but rather a fruit juice. This is a delicious take on lemonade, and I think I will actually be craving it when it goes away!
