Walt Disney World Railroad to Close December 3rd for Tron Construction

Your attention please… the Walt Disney World Railroad will reach its “End of Line” for a while to accommodate construction of the upcoming Tron roller coaster starting December 3rd.

While the railroad is closed, one of the trains will be parked at the Main Street U.S.A. station for visitors to get a closer look at the railroad and enjoy rare photo opportunities. The closure is expected to last well into 2019 as construction kicks into high gear in Tomorrowland. Elsewhere in the Magic Kingdom, the Tomorrowland Speedway is also expected to close sometime next year, as the track is adjusted to make room for the new coaster. The Speedway is expected to reopen in the summer of 2019.

We will update you as the story develops.

  1. I remember they ran the train backwards and forwards during the construction of Splash Mountain which the train actually goes into not just in front of like Tron. I guess in 2019 that would cost too much money and is something that only Universal knows how to do

  2. Wow. While I agree with the statement, it would have been great to leave train open for the Holidays, Disney is on a strick schedule to get Tron up for its guests. One thing be reassured: Disney does its very best to make everything a great experience for all of us Disney lovers !!
