CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA DISNEYLAND MENU

I do want to make note that prior to indulging on the delicious food and tea, I did not have the most pleasant experience at Steakhouse 55. I had a reservation for 12:25 PM and was not seated until 12:50 PM. I am a fairly patient person, so I wasn’t too bothered by the waiting. What did bother me was the customer service––or lack thereof. The Cast Members at the hostess stand did not try to hide their confusion over the order of reservations for the guests waiting to be seated. Two of the hostesses visibly argued over who was to be seated first. And despite having the guests name and party size in the computer in front of them, they still couldn’t keep the information straight.

When I finally was seated, it took another ten minutes until I was greeted by my server. Perhaps the restaurant was understaffed, but for the price of the tea and the upscale quality of the restaurant, I expected more. Therefore, I would warn guests to expect some delay and to go into their experience with some extra patience.

Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvee Brut Sparkling Wine

For guests who enjoy a dry, sparkling wine, this is the perfect Brut for you. The glass was rather large for a champagne glass and filled three-quarters of the way, which made it last throughout the majority of my time at the restaurant. If sparkling wine isn’t your thing, you can opt for two other cocktails: Caramel Apple Spritzer or In a Pear Tree.

Salad with Tomato, Melon, and Burrata with Balsamic Reduction

This salad is a little different from the type of salad we typically think of, but it was just as delicious. I do wish the balsamic glaze was a tad more flavorful, but the portion size was just right. The sandwiches and pastries were very filling, so this small salad was a great way to get started on your meal without being too full. Unfortunately, I am allergic to melon, so I can’t attest to how it tastes altogether. However, I found the tomatoes and burrata to be very fresh.

Chicken Salad Tea Sandwich

Of all the sandwiches, this was the best one of the tea party. It was packed with so much flavor, and the strawberry paired very well with the chicken salad. The bread was crisp and dry, but the inside of the sandwich was moist which made for a great combo of textures and tastes.

Roasted Watermelon and Pimento Goat Cheese on Pumpernickel

Again, I am allergic to melon so I was not able to try this sandwich. My server did say that it has been a big hit among guests, especially the goat cheese with the pumpernickel bread. So we hope that if you do try this sandwich that you greatly enjoy it!

Blueberry, Ricotta, Prosciutto, and Shredded Coconut Sandwich

While not as good as the Chicken Salad Tea Sandwich, this blueberry sandwich made for a tasty treat. The bread for very crisp and a little too dry, but the ricotta cheese was very smooth and balanced out the bread. The shredded coconut was an interesting choice. It paired well with the blueberry and ricotta, but not so much with the prosciutto. I would have liked this better without the coconut.

Apple and Edamame Sandwich

Of the three sandwiches, this was by far the worst. Perhaps I had high expectations because my server claimed it was the best one, but I was greatly disappointed. I felt that it was very dry and didn’t have any flavor to it at all, despite having chives. There wasn’t much of an apple taste, either. After one bite, I returned this sandwich to the serving tray.

Duo Chocolate Strawberries

CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA DISNEYLAND STRAWBERRY

It wasn’t until I left that I realized I didn’t receive a duo of chocolate strawberries, I only received one. However, this Sorcerer Mickey-inspired chocolate strawberry was delicious! The black food coloring did create a little bit of a mess, but there was a perfect amount of chocolate coating on the strawberry. The chocolate bow tie and Sorcerer’s Hat were my favorites, as they were rich and creamy.

Farewell Decadent Chocolate Truffle

These farewell truffles were a nice send-off treat, especially for someone with a never-ending sweet tooth. The darker truffle had a firm outer shell with a gooey chocolate center. The lighter truffle had a hard outer shell and a hard inside, and it fell into pieces when I took a bite of it. Of the two, the darker truffle was my favorite. It had less of a bitter taste to it, despite being darker in color.

Variety of Themed Desserts

CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA DISNEYLAND FEATURED

CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA DISNEYLAND cupcake cookies n cream

CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA DISNEYLAND cupcake cookies n creamAnyone who is a fan of cupcakes will greatly enjoy this Mickey cupcake. It was incredibly soft and moist and kept its shape. At first, I thought it was a hot chocolate cupcake, because of the mini marshmallow on top. However, the frost had a very rich cookies ‘n cream flavor to it. This cupcake was my favorite of the desserts and it would make a great addition to Jolly Holiday Bakery in Disneyland Park.

The inside of this Mickey Mouse sugar cookie is filled with apricot jelly. Of the desserts, this was my least favorite. The thick chocolate coating on the outside of the cookie did not pair well with the apricot on the inside. The tastes were too combative, which made it hard to enjoy. This cookie was also extremely messy, as the food coloring got all over my fingers. It’s a cute cookie for photos, but not so much for flavor.

Of the two scones, this chocolate chip scone was my favorite. It was very straightforward in taste and it paired really well with the clotted cream. The chocolate Mickey buttons were a really cute addition, too.

Even though I preferred the other scone, this raspberry chocolate chip scone was still really enjoyable. The pearls were an interesting addition and gave each bite a nice crunch. I really liked this scone when paired with the raspberry jam.

Do not be fooled! This white chocolate film strip might look like it isn’t anything to rave about, but it was another one of my favorite items. The white chocolate was very flavorful and creamy, and I wish they had included a few more of these. I thought this dessert was a cute way to display some of Mickey’s film history throughout this 90 years.

Pictured above are the clotted cream and raspberry jam I mentioned before, as well as lemon curd. All of these sides were wonderful and paired really well with the scones. The lemon curd was probably my favorite of the three, as it was perfectly sweet and tangy without being too tart.

Teas and Herbal Infusions

What I appreciated most about Mickey’s Tea Party Celebration is the selection of teas. There were so many options that I had a difficult time choosing where to start. Some restaurants that host afternoon tea will only let you select one tea, with every additional tea coming with an added cost. However, Steakhouse 55 lets you taste as many as you’d like, and this above all is why I would recommend this experience.

The first tea I opted for was Eros, a sweet orange and creamy vanilla bean black tea blended with medium-bodied Ceylon leaves. This flavor of this tea was excellent and not too overpowering, as some orange teas can be. I asked for it served hot, and it came out at the perfect temperature for drinking right away—not too hot and not too cold.

The second tea and last tea I tried was the Princess Breakfast. This is an herbal, caffeine-free Rooibos tea with the smooth velvety sweetness of Madagascar vanilla bean and ripe strawberries. The smell of this tea was almost medicinal, but I really liked it and found that it had a potent flavor to it. This one was served very hot, so I had to wait a bit for it to cool down. Of the two teas, I think I enjoyed this one more. Because it was served hotter, I was able to enjoy it longer. The Eros tea cooled down too fast and wasn’t as good when lukewarm.

Overall, I would say that as far as classic afternoon tea parties go, this one at Steakhouse 55 was fairly decent. I do think it’s a tad overpriced, especially for the quality of some of the dessert and sandwich options. However, the atmosphere is lovely and these Mickey floral arrangements on the tables were a magical touch!

If you find yourself at the Disneyland Resort from now through March 31 and have yet to experience tea at the Disneyland Hotel, then I encourage checking out Mickey’s Tea Party Celebration. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion, or just need a moment to treat yourself to something special, this special offer is a fun treat.
