Let’s take a quick look at what’s new at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in this latest photo report. Construction projects abound and you never know what you’ll see.
Construction
Not much outward change over at the Skyliner station. They’ve been in testing mode for the last few days, so they may have taken a small hiatus on construction to make sure everything’s working correctly.
These guys have been seen moving along the line between here and the Caribbean Beach Resort.
Next door, at the new bus loop, they’re moving along very nicely. This loop, the one furthest from the park entrance, looks almost finished.
Looks like they’re installing lighting and signage.
The loop closest to the park entrance (and right next to the new restrooms) is the least finished so far. They were finally laying the concrete for the drive today.
Concrete still needs to be laid under the shelter here, as well. All the walls seem finished, while the support poles aren’t finished quite yet.
Concrete is also being laid over at the new security bag check area. This area will be the buffer zone between the new tram loop and the park entrance.
The new tram loop will go… somewhere in here. The guest services restrooms are just to the right of the frame. I would imagine a good section of this will be a guest walkway or possibly landscaping.
Here’s another view of the security bag check. You can see the wooden outlines of where concrete will be poured.
They’re making good progress on the guest walkway on this side of the tram loop.
They’re laying concrete as we speak. You can see holes left where palm trees will be installed.
Inside the Park
Hey, Disney, it’s been two years since the Starring Rolls Cafe closed. If you’re not planning on reopening it, just take down the signage.
There’s been a tarp covering this sign for 12 months. At least those fallen blossoms are nice.
This stop light on Sunset Blvd (near Tower of Terror) has been missing for some time. Hopefully it comes back looking nice and shiny.
A couple more walls went up near the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. They’re most likely widening paths over here in anticipation of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
They now wrap all the way around to Chip and Dale’s new greeting area.
They don’t seem to know what to do with the gift shop at the exit of Muppet*Vision 3D. Ever since Launch Bay opened and the Art of Disney closed, this shop has been a mixture of art, toys, and some apparel. The latest arrangement seems to be that the “Muppet Babies Nursery Set” room (closest to Pizzerizzo) is now exclusively Disney artwork.
They had Muppet toys in this room up until last week.
The Muppet products (which are actually quite scarce, sadly enough) have been moved back to the door closest to the show exit.
The Star Wars stuff has moved to this wall and is now mostly apparel instead of toys.
And this wall has become nothing but hats and ears. I wish they would make up their mind. Actually, I’d rather this shop be exclusively Muppet stuff, but I know that’s never going to happen.
The Fantasmic sign was off all day. Broken? Maybe. Someone forgot to turn it on? More likely.
That’s all for today! Stay tuned for more photo reports, delivered to you daily.
